A fresh polar bear has been introduced at Bremerhaven Zoo.
Bremerhaven Zoo by the Sea has welcomed a new resident, a polar bear named Lara. Lara was transferred from Gelsenkirchen and has taken up residence at the popular German zoo.
The arrival of Lara marks a significant change in the zoo's polar bear enclosure, following the departure of the female polar bear twins, Anna and Elsa. The twins had to be separated from their mother Valeska due to living conditions, and they were subsequently relocated to a zoo in the Czech Republic last week.
Valeska, who remains at Bremerhaven Zoo by the Sea, is expected to meet Lara in the coming week. After their introduction, Lara will be visible on the outdoor exhibit at the zoo.
Lara's arrival comes as she gets accustomed to her new surroundings and meets the polar bear keepers at the zoo. She arrived in good health and is currently in a private enclosure.
The separation of Anna and Elsa from Valeska was necessary to ensure the well-being of all involved. This change at the zoo's polar bear enclosure marks a new chapter for the popular attraction.
For visitors eager to catch a glimpse of Lara, it is currently unclear when she will be visible on the outdoor exhibit, as there have been no announcements regarding her public debut. Stay tuned for updates on Bremerhaven Zoo by the Sea's website or social media channels.
