A Centenarian Bakeshop in Weseler, Celebrates Its Milestone: Chef's Dream Position Reached

In the picturesque town of Wesel, nestled along the Rhine River, a family-owned business is gearing up for a momentous milestone. Dams Bakery, a staple of the community for a century, is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary this year.

Originally a plumbing business, the Dams family transformed their enterprise into a bakery in 1925. Over the decades, the company has grown from a small shop to an expansive operation, now boasting eight branches across the region.

The journey of Dams Bakery is a testament to resilience and adaptability. Thomas Dams, the current leader of the company and the third generation to head the business, took over in 1996, leading to a complete realignment of the company. Under his guidance, the bakery has continued to thrive, offering a diverse range of products to customers that include renowned hotels and restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and a youth hostel.

To mark this significant occasion, Dams Bakery will offer special offers in all branches over a period of 100 days, starting on August 14. Customers can expect a variety of promotions, free samples, and giveaways, making this an exciting time to visit the bakery.

In addition to these celebrations, the Dams family has been actively involved in the community, organising funeral cafés in the parish halls of Veen and Ginderich. These initiatives reflect the bakery's commitment to serving its community beyond just providing delicious bread and pastries.

The bakery workshop at Weseler Straße 99 in Büderich, a testament to Thomas Dams' biggest project, houses 85 seats inside and another 50 on the terrace, offering a welcoming space for customers to enjoy their treats.

With a diverse workforce, many of whom have a migration background, Dams Bakery is a reflection of the vibrant community it serves. As the bakery looks forward to its next 100 years, it continues to uphold its tradition of artisanal baking while embracing the changing times.

For more detailed information about the Dams bakery's centennial, including its history, expansion, and customer celebration plans, we encourage you to reach out to the bakery directly or check local German news sources and Wesel community records closer to the event date. Here's to 100 more years of bread, tradition, and community at Dams Bakery!
